JOB: Project Manager, Library, California Academy of Sciences

Reporting to the Archives and Digital Collections Librarian, and the User Services Librarian, the Project Manager plays a key role in a pilot project to digitize archival collections and biological specimens, to create usable metadata for these collections, and to established appropriate connections between the digitized materials and the published literature in the Biodiversity Heritage Library.  This project is funded under “Connecting Content: A Collaboration to Link Field Notes to Specimens and Published Literature,” a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating scanning, cataloging, and metadata functions among the seven partner institutions in the “Connecting Content” project.  The Project Manager will also assist the Digital Projects Manager, Archives and Digital Collections Librarian, and User Services Librarian in the selection, training, and supervision of interns working on the project.  Year one: this is a full-time (40 hours/week) grant-funded position for one year. Years two and three: it is a part-time (20 hours/week) grant-funded position.
