Just a reminder that there is still time to register for the NOCALL Spring Institute and the Pre-Institute Workshop! BayNet is partnering on the Pre-Institute Workshop, so as a result BayNet members can receive member pricing for the workshop and even for the full Institute, if they are interested. Here are some more details on the workshop:
Pre-Institute Workshop
What You Need To Know To Break The Code: RDA – Not Just Jargon for the Back of House
This workshop is intended to be an overview of RDA and how it will impact cataloging going forward. RDA stands for Resource Description and Access and it is the new cataloging standard that will be replacing AACR2. Joni Cassidy (of Cassidy Cataloging) will provide an overview of what RDA is and why it should be on the radar of those in Technical Services departments. Ken Well (from Innovative Interfaces) will cover what library system vendors are doing to adjust to RDA and what this is likely to change system wise. Finally, Kathleen Winzer (from the Stanford Law School Library) will close by talking about her experiences as an RDA tester.
Anyone that is in Technical Services or is a Cataloging Librarian should definitely attend the workshop. And, at the price of only $20 for members, what a bargain!
Please take a look at the rest of the Institute program on the NOCALL web site. Registration is open through the end of the week, so register today!
