San Mateo Public Library is now accepting applications for the position of: Supervising Librarian (Adult / Teen Information Services) Final filing date: Monday, March 26, 2012. Salary: $68,515 to $81,702 annually
The Supervisor level recognizes positions that perform full, first-line supervisory and management responsibilities including planning, assigning and evaluating the work of subordinates, are responsible for a program area within the Library and provide technical assistance to the Deputy City Librarian. The Supervising Librarian position is a member of the City’s management team comprised of department heads, deputy directors and division managers.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
- Training: Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited college or university is required.
- Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional librarian duties. Five years of progressively responsible library experience, which includes three years in a supervisory capacity is highly desirable.
- Licenses and Certificates: Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid California driver’s license
