JOBS: Electronic Resources Librarian and Lower School Librarian at The Harker School in San Jose

 The Harker School has two open part-time library positions: Electronic Resources Librarian and Lower School Librarian.

1. PT Electronic Resources Librarian

  • Job description: Taking direction from the Library Director, the part-time Electronic Resources Librarian (ERL) performs various professional tasks associated with maintaining subscription database products, Ebooks, and other electronic resources. These include analyzing user statistics, providing technical support to users, and vendor interface. The ERL provides technical services to the Library Department and acts as a liaison to the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the Upper School (grades 9-12) Campus Librarian, the ERL also staffs the circulation desk during an assigned (morning) shift, and circulates, processes, and shelves library materials, uploading catalog .records for both print and electronic resources

  • Qualifications: MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program, or currently enrolled in an MLIS program, proficiency in database management, html, and MS Office. Candidates must have experience working in a library and/or experience with young adults.

2. PT Lower School Librarian

  • Job description:  Reporting to the Lower School (grades K-5) Campus Librarian, this part-time librarian teaches 10 sections of fixed-schedule library classes each week, in addition to developing collaborative lessons with classroom teachers integrating information literacy skills into the curriculum, and providing readers’ advisory services.
  • Responsibilities: see above
  • Qualifications:  MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program and classroom teaching experience OR experience teaching information literacy skills to elementary students. Storytelling, puppetry, and dramatic talents are a plus.
