JOBS: Three full time Librarian I/II positions at San Mateo Public Library

The Position: The San Mateo Public Library is currently recruiting to fill three full-time Librarian I/II positions in adult/teen and children’s services.

Salary:
Librarian I – $4,379 to $5,221, monthly
Librarian II – $4,816 to $5,747, monthly

Status:  Full Time
Deadline:   May 14, 2012

Librarian I – This is the entry-level classification in the professional Librarian series. This classification is distinguished from the Librarian II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series.  Assignments are generally limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees.

Librarian II – This the journey level class within the professional Librarian series.  Work in this classification is distinguished from that of a Librarian I by the greater complexity of the assignments received.  Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.  Appointment to the higher class requires that the employee be performing substantially the full range of duties for the classification and meet the qualification standards for the class.

The Library: The San Mateo Public Library is a dynamic community resource and destination that includes the Main Library, a state of the art LEED Gold rated green building, which opened in August 2006; and two community branch libraries. The Library provides library services to residents of the City of San Mateo and the Town of Hillsborough and is part of the Peninsula Library System (PLS), a consortium of public library jurisdictions and community college libraries in San Mateo County. The Library is also part of the Pacific Library Partnership, a consolidation of four library systems in the greater Bay Area of Northern California.
