The Oakland Public Library currently has four Senior Librarian vacancies: Cataloging (selective certification required), Collection Management, Community Relations (selective certification required), and the Diamond Branch Library. The eligibility list established from this examination may be used to fill other vacancies that may occur.
The Senior Librarian may be responsible for the full range of librarian duties including classification and cataloging; reference materials, readers advisory, collection management, community relations, program development, implementation and evaluation, including service to diverse populations including children, young adult and non-English speaking individuals; The Senior Librarian will also plan, coordinate and perform as a working supervisor to other professional librarians and provide supervision to Librarian I and II personnel and paraprofessional and clerical staff.
The salary range for the Senior Librarian classification is $35.54 per hour – 43.64 per hour, 37.5 hour work week (Currently, there is an avg. of one mandatory business shutdown day per month.).
