JOB: Technical Support Specialist 2, University of the Pacific Library, Stockton

Position purpose: To ensure the delivery of high quality computer and information technology services and support to library patrons and its staff.

Essential functions include: maintenance of optimal hardware and software environments for Library staff, faculty and patrons; repairs, maintenance, installation of software and hardware, software updates and patches; hard drive imaging, processes and procedures; support of the computer servers and software that deliver the Library’s public interfaces and in-house operations and systems; second-tier support for Library web pages and ancillary web applications; documentation of Library technology and systems as required to keep all information current; providing Library patrons with technical support and assistance as needed; and contributing positively to the Library’s service culture.

Qualified applicants will have: an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of Linux, Unix and PC server and desktop environments; oracle basic administrative knowledge; network and non-network printer troubleshooting ability; programming skills in web page development environments, PHP, SQL and PERL; interest in emerging technologies and their application to academic libraries; strong commitment to customer service; ability to achieve goals independently, as well as through good working relationships with colleagues.
