JOB: Collection Development Librarian at UCSF Library

The University of California, San Francisco Library seeks a dynamic, technologically adept, service oriented librarian for the position of Collection Development Librarian. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Scholarly Communication & Collections, the successful candidate has a strong background in developing and managing a user-centered library collection, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an interest in providing reference and education services.

The incumbent manages the overall growth and development of the collection, manages the collection budget and tracks expenditures throughout the year, and works closely with staff in the unit to negotiate licenses and evaluate print and online resource usage.  The position also leads collection-based projects, the continuing transition to online journals and an aggressive movement to e-book acquisitions, including a demand driven acquisitions model. The Collection Development Librarian also provides library instruction and reference services and works closely with librarians in the Education/Reference department.
