JOB: Administrative Assistant – Substance Abuse Librarians and Information Specialists (SALIS), Alameda

SALIS is a small non-profit professional association of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD)  librarians and information specialists  who work in special libraries, medical & hospital libraries, and academic libraries throughout the world.  The organization is dedicated to promoting the organization, management,  and dissemination of drug, alcohol, and tobacco related information and providing a network and training opportunities for ATOD information professionals.

The home office in Alameda seeks a self-motivated candidate for the position of administrative assistant.  The position entails maintaining the membership and conference databases, overseeing membership dues and conference registration, email correspondence, and basic bookkeeping.

The administrative assistant will also be working with the Executive Director on a digitization project which is just about to be launched,  and will assist with the annual international conference to be held in Berkeley in Spring 2013.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and creatively as a team
member or independently

Ability to work with diverse people and serve a diverse population.

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other database software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge using database software (InMagic a plus)

Minimum 1 year experience working in library or office environment.

Hours: 15 – 20 per week.  Salary TBD
