The San José Public Library System (SJPL) invites applications for the position of archivist Librarian I/II for the San José History Center. The San José History Center collection has an emphasis on the history of San José and Santa Clara County. This position requires the ability to work some weekends and evenings.
A Librarian I/II performs professional librarian duties including reference, programming, materials selection, and community outreach. The duties of this position include, but may not be limited to: primary responsibility for effective oversight of the public library’s historical and archival collections; planning and implementation of digitization projects; providing assistance to customers; supervising and training other staff, interns, and volunteers for their participation in digitization projects, customer service and the appropriate methods for preserving historical/archival collections. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Special Collections staff of San José State University.
