Are you interested in participating in an ARLIS/NA (Art Libraries Society of North America) Northern California career mentoring program? ARLIS/NA is initiating a Chapter mentorship program in which mentors and mentees will be paired regionally.
Mentors and mentees who are interested in participating will be matched based on interests, experience, and location by the Northern California Chapter Mentoring Liaison, Mary Wegmann, by January 20, 2015. ARLIS/NA and the Chapter Mentoring Liaison will provide electronic support materials to guide the mentorship process and each mentor/mentee will be responsible for communicating with each other at least once a month. The estimated time commitment is an hour or two each month over the course of six months. It is not required that the mentor or mentee attend the national conference.
All interested art librarians and art librarians-to-be are encouraged to apply! Mentees will have the benefit of building a relationship with a more experienced ARLIS/NA member and will receive feedback as they negotiate the path to art librarianship. Mentors will have the opportunity to contribute to their profession, learn from their mentee’s experiences and interests, and reflect upon and share their professional trajectory. Mid-career professionals are encouraged to apply as both mentors and mentees.
