As a member of the Library’s senior management team reporting to the Dean, Academic Resources, the incumbent will lead and manage the Library’s Access Services Department and provide reference, instruction, and collection/liaison services.
Access Services provides user-centered services to the SMC community including circulation, reserves, interlibrary lending and borrowing, and building and stacks management. Staff includes 4 supervisors and about 10FTE student staff. Serves on the Dean’s Cabinet leadership team and campus committees. Represents the Library with diverse campus and external stakeholders.
Provides Reference Desk service, including weekends and evenings, and serves as a subject specialist for collection development, research instruction and outreach to one or more academic departments or programs (to be determined).

MLS or MLIS required. Prefer a second master’s or an advanced degree.
Five years academic library experience with at least three years increasingly responsible management experience.
Solid experience with automated systems supporting Access Services.
Experience hiring, evaluating, training and mentoring both career staff and student workers.
