This position reports to the Head of Access Services, sharing responsibility with the Billing Manager for supervising library services in late afternoon and evening hours. Create and manage the electronic reserves collection (ERes) while communicating guidelines to faculty regarding copyright and fair-use. Co-Manages SMC’s participation in Link+, a consortium for daily incoming and outgoing interlibrary borrowing of books. Process and receive patron requests for SMC library-owned books held in off-site-storage. Supervise a staff of 15-20 student assistants while managing the Circulation Desk. Monitor the building during late afternoon and evening hours and secure the building at closing.
Minimum BA degree; Preferred: 2-year Certificate in a library and information technology (LIT) program.
Two years of directly related library experience, preferably in an academic library.
Experience with an integrated, automated circulation system, preferably III, fax, scanner, e-mail, and Microsoft Office software. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, with other staff, and as a member of a team. Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks and to handle multiple assignments at a time. Ability to work with frequent interruptions. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Must have excellent listening, oral, and written skills and an excellent service ethic. Reliability and punctuality essential. Supervisory experience preferred.
