The Learning Resource Center is looking for a temporary, part-time Branch Librarian for the Berkeley campus. The hours are Mondays – Wednesdays, 11:30 am – 8:00 pm. This is an hourly non-benefited position. Pay rate is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. This assignment will last approximately five (5) months or as needed, beginning in September 2015 through February 2016,
The Berkeley Campus Learning Resource Center is a small, two-person library which supports the curricular, research, and classroom technology needs of master’s level programs in Holistic Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Museum Studies. The duties of the temporary Branch Librarian include: managing the day to day operations of the library, providing reference assistance and one on one research instruction to patrons, course reserve management, and outreach to faculty and students. The Librarian and the Library Assistant share responsibility for direct provision of services such as circulation, intra-library loan, and end user support of the computer lab’s Windows and Mac computers and the classroom AV equipment. Acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan, systems and web site management services are provided by the central library in Pleasant Hill. This position reports directly to the Learning Resource Center Manager in Pleasant Hill.
The requirements for this position include an MLS or MLIS degree and a minimum of one year of professional academic library experience, including reference and instruction experience; familiarity with all aspects of library operations and understanding of information technology. Library management and supervisory experience are highly desirable. An academic background or familiarity with holistic studies, museum studies or psychology/counseling as well as familiarity with KOHA, an open-source library system, would be helpful. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Familiarity with both Windows and Mac applications is also desirable.
