Undergraduate Student Intern U rate of pay is $10.83 – $ 15.44 per hour.
Graduate Student Intern U rate of pay is $13.99 – $20.66 per hour.

About the Position
The San José Public Library (SJPL) has Undergraduate/Graduate Student Intern positions available at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (MLK, Jr.). The Student Interns will work closely with the Teen Center Librarian assisting in the planning, implementing and providing new teen programming. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: assist in the design and implementation of programming, facilitating of book clubs, management of other volunteers, assist with program promotion and marketing, training teens on use of Makerspace equipment and music editing/recording programs.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience in leading Teen programs or activities
• Experience providing excellent customer service
• Experience working as part of a team
• Experience or skills in Digital, Video, or Audio Content Creation
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher
• Interest or background in MakerSpace Technologies

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to the completion of high school and current enrollment in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate program or current enrollment in a Master’s of Library and Information Science Degree program from an American Library Association accredited college or university. Interns must continue to be enrolled in a college or university during their employment with the City of San Jose.
