JOB: Librarian II, San Francisco Public Library, San Francisco

Under direction, the 3632 Librarian II performs advanced Librarian work. The essential functions of the classification include: planning, directing, and implementing the operations of a branch library or a program of a library division, collections and technical services, or system wide service coordination; supervising staff including providing support and training to ensure service excellence; providing information and direction on the use of library resources; interpreting library policy, responding to inquiries, suggestions and concerns and recommending new procedures, guidelines or policies; supervising and performing reference work; planning, coordinating and overseeing programming, training and exhibits; making public presentations; consulting in specific library fields of expertise; coordinating and performing the selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing, or presentation of library materials; communicating verbally and in writing to internal and external constituents in order to communicate information regarding library operations and services; assisting in policy formulation and implementation including library systems/programs and strategic priorities; managing specific collections in accordance with the San Francisco Public Library Collection Development Plan; developing and maintaining positive relationships with library stakeholders in the community; planning and coordinating programming and exhibits; and performing related duties as assigned.
