JOB: IS Programmer Analyst, San Francisco Public Library, San Francisco

Appointment Type:
Permanent Exempt (PEX) Appointment. This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive civil service examination pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section 10.104 and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. The maximum duration of this permanent exempt appointment is three years.

Position Description:
Under general direction, the IS Programmer Analyst position will be with the San Francisco Public Library’s (SFPL) Information Technology Division. It is the mission of the Division to support the Mission and Strategic Priorities of SFPL in ensuring equitable access to public technology and resources. The position will provide key support to the web refreshment project, including the redesign of SFPL’s staff intranet and primary public website to comply with current industry standards. The websites serve the Library’s more than 800 employees, and patrons at the Main Library, 27 Community Branch Libraries and Mobile Outreach Services. This project will provide improved access to SFPL resources and support staff in the provision of public services.

The project will encompass development and implementation of Security and Permissions aspects of Content Management Systems and related databases for SFPL website and staff intranet; create and implement organizational schema for SFPL intranet documents including metadata, permissions and retention; develop a plan and migrate existing documents and data into new schema; develop and implement search engine optimization strategy for the SFPL website; develop and configure specific back-end elements and front end features.
