JOB: Librarian I/II – San Jose Public Library, Cataloging Librarian, San Jose

The San José Public Library System (SJPL) invites applications for the position of Cataloging Librarian I/II. A Cataloging Librarian I/II performs professional librarian duties including original and copy cataloging in multiple languages, database maintenance and authority control, as well as data extraction and data analysis. The ability to prioritize and work independently is vital. This position functions also as a Lead and resource for our Copy Cataloging staff, which are under the direct supervision of a Library Assistant. This position may include evenings or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education: A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university. We encourage Spring 2016 and Summer 2016 Master Degree in Library Science Candidates to apply.
2. Experience: Librarian I – None; Librarian II – Minimum one year of full-time professional library experience.
3. Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in this country. Please be informed that the City of San José will not prepare or file a labor condition application with the Department of Labor.
