Library Assistant. John F. Kennedy’s Robert M. Fisher Library, located in Pleasant Hill, CA is seeking a part-time 20 hours per week Library Assistant. This is a non-exempt non-benefitted position.
The Library Assistant reports directly to the Director of Library Services. The Library Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of library functions, including: ordering and receiving of materials and supplies, course reserves processing, copy cataloging, book processing, circulation, public service and other duties as assigned. The position may include evening and weekend hours.
The requirements for this position include a minimum of two (2) years of college or a library technician certificate. Familiarity with the Library of Congress Classification system, library management systems, and database searching is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be comfortable providing both technical and public library services, demonstrate the ability to balance meticulous attention to detail with an appreciation of the big picture, work well both independently and in a team environment, and serve a diverse adult constituency with a sense of professionalism and good humor.
