Position Summary:
The California Digital Library (CDL) is a collaborative effort of the ten campuses of the University of California designed to enable the University of California’s libraries to continue to meet the informational needs of University of California faculty and students in the 21st century. The CDL assumes a leadership role in providing digital content to the citizens of the state, develops systems that encourage resource sharing, and provides for a focus for the development of strategies and initiatives that guide the University’s libraries through the transition to the digital future.

Works with the Discovery and Delivery team, comprised of experienced analysts, product managers and developers, to develop large scale digital library services in response to the changing needs of students, faculty and staff. The Metadata Analyst will be an experienced professional who identifies, assesses, and addresses metadata management needs in a range of data flows and systems; for example, as part of the team that manages metadata for the HathiTrust, a digital library preservation and access partnership in which the University of California (UC) actively participates, as well as in support of UC systemwide library initiatives. Responsibilities include developing metadata transformation use cases, determining the system requirements that will address prioritized needs, and translating requirements into metadata handling specifications.
