The Alameda County Library has full-time and part-time vacancies currently available throughout the organization.
Librarians assigned to a Community Library provide direct service within the diverse communities of Alameda County to support the Library’s mission. Librarians in a Community Library work with members of all ages and backgrounds and are generally assigned to focus on a specific population. Librarians work collaboratively with internal and external partners and perform professional work in outreach, program development, reference and readers advisory, and other duties as assigned.
Social Justice Services
Social Justice Services provides library programs, services, and materials to marginalized populations with reduced access to traditional libraries. We currently offer services across Alameda County. Social Justice Services also coordinates the Library’s Summer Lunch @ the Library Program and is continuing to seek out new opportunities to serve these communities. The Library is currently seeking one librarian with a passion for working with underserved and marginalized populations, who has strong readers advisory skills, and excels in planning library programs. Librarians serving in Social Justice Services will need to be able to follow policies and procedures in secure environments, demonstrate an ability to remain calm and clear-headed in intense environments, and work in partnership with sworn and non-sworn staff across all departments served.
