About the Position:
Direct and supervise the activities of the branch Library. For more information on the FIDM Library, visit their website.
-Direct and coordinate the daily activities of Library staff to ensure maximum patron service and efficient workflow.
-Provide and train for provision of reference services, bibliographic instruction, internet researching, and instruction to all Library users.
-Document Library interactions for statistical reporting.
-Manage the Library’s collection to ensure relevancy and currency in both print and non-print format, selectively withdrawing library materials which are dated or are no longer relevant.
-Plan, prepare, and manage appropriate budget for Campus Library
-Develop and deliver in-person presentations that integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
-Maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and staff in support of Library and FIDM curriculum.
-Supervise the cataloging of Library resources, including all print and non-print formats.
-Conduct outreach services to all internal and external Library users; including but not limited to: faculty forums, faculty orientations, department updates, and student orientations.
-Establish goals and measure accomplishments as represented in Program Review.
-Responsible for the hiring and developing new Library staff, as needed.
-Plan and oversee Library special events in support of FIDM
-Maintain and enhance professional knowledge in technology and trends in information literacy and the overall retail industry by participating in professional organizations and activities which relate to the Library and to FIDM.
-Attend Library and campus manager’s meetings where the presence of the Head Librarian is expected, including Education Department meetings and Senior Staff Meetings.
-Supervise the annual inventory process.
-Develop marketing plan to enhance awareness of Library services and materials.
-Coordinate the continued training and professional development of library staff
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsible for directing and supervising the Operations, Reference, Instruction and Technical Services of the branch campus Library, in support of the FIDM and Library Mission Statements.
-Strong communication and presentation skills
-Computer literate at the Intermediate Skill Level with competency in those tasks determined necessary for the position.
-Minimum of two (2) years library experience, preferably at the college level.
-Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
-Master in Library Science (MLS) or Master in Library & Information Studies (MLIS) degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college or university.
