Join us in a close-up show-and-tell with San Francisco Carnaval history through original scrapbooks, costume sketches, early promotional posters and flyers, and photographs which document San Francisco’s Carnaval culture and contributions. Archival collection highlights will be on a recently opened Carol Deutch Papers on Carnaval San Francisco, Sir Lawrence Washington Papers on Carnaval San Francisco, and Johnathan Powk Papers on Carnaval San Francisco.
This exclusive program takes place within the San Francisco History Center (www.sfpl.org/sfhistory) and is limited to 30 participants. The behind-the-scenes event is led by our knowledgeable archivists, who will guide the tour of treasured documents. Photography is welcomed and encouraged during the program.
