Description

Under general supervision, provide professional library service including reference, reader’s advisory, programming and outreach, materials selection and/or technical services to meet the general information needs of the public, and to perform other related work as required.

This is the second level in the professional librarian series. Incumbents under supervision of a Librarian III, Community Library Manager, Senior Community Library Manager, or Library Services Manager, apply the principles and techniques learned from their academic or equivalent background to perform required assignments in one or more sections of the library. This class is distinguished from Librarian III in that the latter class is the experienced professional level. Librarian IIIs fulfill assigned functions with considerable independence and judgment, including the training and direction of both professional and support staff.
